    FUTSAL WOMAN'S CUP 2010

    UCC V CIT

In preparation for the WSCAI Futsal Intervarsity’s CIT held a Futsal Tournament consisting of two teams from CIT and two teams from UCC.  The competition took place in CIT’s Sports Hall on January 13th. Matches lasted for 20 minutes and each team played each other once. Chris O’ Mahony took charge of the CIT teams while Bryan Phelan managed the UCC ladies.

    REPORT:

Megan Spillane of CIT A proved to be the difference between these four well matched teams. Megan finished top scorer with an amazing 7 goals in 3 matches. Linda Douglas of UCC A pushed Megan all the way in the scoring charts but just fell short netting an impressive 5 goals.

The league was tight from the start and only goal difference separated the top two and the teams in 3rd and 4th. UCC B’s best moment came with a victory over their compatriots UCC A but still managed to finish fourth, level on goal difference with CIT B but scored less. CIT B looked confident at times but lacked the cutting edge needed. UCC A previously beat the league winners but could only grab second spot, and even with the fantastic form of Zoe Murphy and the goal scoring machine Linda Douglas still fell short. CIT A had a shaky start but from there they went from strength to strength and the form of Valerie Leahy ,the finishing pedigree of Megane Spillane and with a little help from an old foe UCC B, CIT A topped the table.

UCC COMMERCE CUP LADIES FINAL 2008

    Reagan's Rangers 5 - Fresh Legs 1

This years ladies final finished 5-1

2008 winners were Commerce 4th year AKA "Reagan's Rangers".

Great game this year as the underdogs "Fresh Legs" (2nd YearCommerce) scored first; exciting stuff as the half drew to a close Reagans Ranges equalised and it was 1-1 at half time.

However the Fourth Years' experience came good in the 2nd half, closing out the game with 4 more goals, including one that went straight in from a corner kick!! (ball lofted into penalty area, strong right to left wind, ball drifts over keeper's head and into the back of the net!)

    Winners 2008: 3rd years.

Exciting times at the 2008 med cup as the 3rd years upset the 4th years. A very competitive game that was decided on an own goal.

It was the 3rd year captain Paul Scully who stepped up to lift the prestigious Med Cup.

Congratulations to all and especially Darragh Herlihy for his expertise in running the cup.
