Ireland got their first win at the World University games today against Ghana.

A Davy O'Sullivan headed hat-trick was the difference between the sides. Ghana started well and had a goal from Dawson after 7 mins. Ghana continued to threaten Ireland and Ryan Coulter had to be sharp on a number of occasions.
Ireland got into the game with Mark Forker and Alan Taggert passing well, after 20mins Ireland got one back. A free kick from Gareth Harkin was headed back by Brian Cleary and Davy O'Sullivan headed powerfully to the Ghana net. O'Sullivan put Ireland ahead after 30mins with another header this time from a Graham Risk cross after good play from Dean Roche. In an open game chances were missed by both teams and Ireland were happy to get to the break 2-1 up in the sweltering heat.
Ireland dominated the second half moving the ball extremely well as a consequence Ghana tired. O’Sullivan got his hat-trick on 56 mins with a powerful header from another Rusk cross. Brian Cleary wrapped up the game ith a tap in after 70mins after excellent play from Peter McMahon and Alan Taggert.
Ireland now play Morocco in their sixth and final game on Friday at 5.30 in FC Jakova.
