This was a tightly contested game despite the final score line. The game started at a lively pace , with Tallaght looking slightly stronger in the early exchanges.

Just as Maynooth were finding their feet in the game they conceded what looked a soft goal after 10 mins of the first half. Tallaght’s Chris Sheilds broke from midfield and fired straight at the NUIM keeper who failed to deal with the shot. After that set back Maynooth looked the stronger of the two teams playing the better football. This pressure told when Craig Mooney’s shot was parried by the Tallaght goal keeper and Liam Dunne pounced to finish from six yards. 1-1 at HT. Just after the midway point in the second half Tallaght struck again Ian Ryan latching on to a cross from the left to make it 2-1 . In the  final minutes Tallaght made it three with a slick passing move finishing with a shot and goal for Ciaran Corcoran.
