WIT Steal Victory at CSN
WIT began their premier South division with a late win at CSN in Cork on Wednesday afternoon. It was WIT that took the lead midway through the first half after fine play down the right wing was finished after some poor defending by the CSN defence. Following the WIT goal CSN took control of the game and had a number of chances to equalise prior to the half time whistle.
The second half started as it finished with CSN again dominating play, and it was was'nt long before the equaliser came after the ball broke outside the CSN box, a number of interchanging passes was finished off with CSN captain rounding the keeper and slotting the ball into the net. Following this CSN again went forward, pressing for the winner and were only denided by some fine defending and good goalkeeping.
With both teams made a number of changes as legs got tired it looked like CSN would get the vital goal. However a serious injury to a CSN defender left them with 10men for the final 10mins (3 subs had be made) in which WIT enjoyed the extra man.
As all seemed destined for a draw, however in the 94th min a WIT winger broke down the right flank and played a through ball, in which CSN defenders felt was offside, yet the WIT striker finished the move with a powerful strike beating the keeper at his near post, wrapping up all 3points for the vistors.
While WIT will be delighted with the win and the 3points, CSN should be happy with their overall performance.
