Report Cork IT

CIT recorded their first win of the season against Tralee IT in St Brendans Park Tralee on Wednesday 11th November. CIT were fully deserved winners as they showed superior battling qualities to their opponents. CIT pressed early on and got their just rewards when Shane O Keeffe produced a powerful run into the box and finished well in the first 5 minutes. However Tralee didn’t give up and had a period of dominance for the next 20 minutes but the CIT defense held firm, lead by the excellent Peter O Halloran. CIT soaked up the pressure and hit Tralee on the counter with good work from Dan Leahy down the left which resulted in him been fouled. Dave Stack swung in a fantastic ball from the free kick for Peter O Halloran to head home.

The second half started with Tralee throwing everything at the CIT lads but some great defending and good organisation restricted the Tralee lads to shots from long distance. Ian O Sullivan in centre midfield had a superb game for CIT and really dictated the pace of the game in the second half. Gavin Moore and James O Sullivan showed a good work rate up front and caused the Tralee defense all sorts of problems. It was all CIT now and they added a third in the 76 minute when substitute Patrick Horgan curled an unstoppable shot passed the helpless Tralee goalkeeper. So a first win for the CIT lads and a first clean sheet. This is sure to boost confidence for the coming games.
