Report ITT:

ITT DUBLIN’S Senior men’s team clinched an impressive victory over DCU on Tuesday to maintain their hopes of qualifying from the East section of the CUFL Premier Division.

Monaghan United winger Michael Isichei bagged a double as Pat Scully’s side secured their second successive victory in the toughest division in college soccer.

The Tallaght side began well with impressive Dutch midfielder Yannick Van Zutphen scoring for the second game in a row when he fired home from a Dayo Morakinyo cross.

DCU pulled one back through a Philip Kavanagh header after impressive build-up play for Irish futsal international Ian Byrne for the visitors.

Morakinyo then played a crucial role in the home side getting control of the game. He beat keeper Ben Dalk to a ball over the top and was taken down for a penalty, which was converted with aplomb by Isichei.

DCU threw everything into forcing an equaliser but found home keeper Donal Murray in indomitable mood. Murray made a top class tip over to keep out a long range strike by Daniel McMahon in the 61st minute.

Morakinyo played an important role in ITT’s third goal in the 84th minute when he knocked the ball down from a Jacques Morley corner and Isichei finished with a neat shot on the turn.

Murray made a good stop to keep out a Daniel Duggan strike before DCU were handed a life-line when defender Kevin Feely was taken down in the box by substitute Daniel Brocklebank. Bohemians defender Feely took the spot-kick himself but blazed it over the bar.

ITT face Griffith College in the CFAI Cup next week then meet leaders DIT in their final league fixture where a victory may be enough to see them through to the knock-out stages.

ITT DUBLIN: Murray; Sage, Kavanagh, Byrne, Rothery, Hayes, Cooney, Van Zutphen, Isichei, Morakinyo, Morley. Subs: May for Morakinyo 85 mins; Brocklebank for Hayes 87.

CUFL Division One ITT Dublin 1 NCI 2

ITT DUBLIN’S second team were unfortunate losers to NCI in a keenly contested Division One clash on Tuesday.

NCI had taken an early lead when Ahmed Elmeer finished from close range after a low cross by Conor Riddick.

ITT showed plenty of commitment and a number of long range strikes by Karl Kearns kept keeper Dave Lawlor busy.

The home side eventually levelled when Eanna Forde fired home brilliantly from an excellent left-wing delivery by Conor McGreal.

After peppering the visitors goal for long periods, ITT were undone when Elmeer used his pace to burst down the left and squared for Andy Dunne to tap in and claim the three points.

ITT DUBLIN B: Hogan; Evans, McGreal, Doyle, Jackson, Kearns, Byrne, Olagun, Forde, Azeez, Hall. Subs: Caul, Ennis.
