The holders needed to perform to their best to overcome a spirited challenge from their neighbours in Coleraine in an entertaining contest in perfect weather conditions in Cork.
There was precious little between the teams and the goals did not arrive until the second half.
Mark Surgenor - a goal-scorer yesterday in the win over Maynooth - again hit the target and they led 2-0 when Johnny Maybin scored. Coleraine were game and they responded with a goal from Ally Gordon - the scorer of a hat-trick against DCU on Tuesday - to ensure a tense finish for Jordanstown.
