Goalkeeper Jamie Clerkin was again in top form for Surgeons but he was unable, this time, to oversee a victory as Trinity College grabbed the only goal of the game in the dying minutes.
Clerkin had played a major role as Surgeons eliminated Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, on Tuesday when he saved three penalty attempts. But three minutes from time he was unable to prevent Trinity claiming the winning goal as John Lavelle headed home following a corner kick.
