Harding Cup Kicks Off in Limerick
The first game of the Harding Cup took place in the University of Limerick today. UCD took on NUIG in the Preliminary Round with the winners to advance to the Quarter Finals. Despite the cold conditions the game was played at a very high tempo throughout. UCD looked very good from the beginning and things looked ominous for the Galway lads. However they quickly settled and their superior size and strength started to get them back into the game. At half time both teams went in level and it was a very hard game to call. UCD again came flying out of the traps in the second half but just could not overpower the NUIG team. With 20 minutes to go a deflected cross fell to Ger Chivers of NUIG who calmly finished on the half volley. Some resolute defending from the Galway lads means that they advance to meet UCC in the Quarter Finals tomorrow at the University of Limerick.
Fixtures tomorrow are as follows:
UL v DCU 11am
Mary I v UUJ 11am
TCD v QUB 2.30pm
UCC v NUIG 2.30pm
