The first test took place on Friday evening against Hamilton Academical reserve team. This game kicked off at 6pm in Bent Recreation, Hamilton on 3G Astro Turf. It was the home team who scored first, going 1-0 up after ten minutes. As the half progressed the Irish team were holding onto possession much better and at half time it was all square at 2-2. The fitness of the Irish team shone in the second half as they took the game to the reserve team, opening them at ease and creating goal opportunities. The game finished 11-2 to the Irish Combined Team.
A second training session took place on Saturday morning before the second game. A tougher test lay ahead against the Hamilton Academical Premier Team. This game kicked off at 1pm in the Hamilton Palace Sports Ground. The game was a much tighter affair until the Irish team broke the deadlock after 20 minutes.
