Irish Colleges suffer their first defeat in their final group game at the Keele International Cup
Having gone behind early in the game the colleges fought well to draw level. Cross from the left was met by the run of Valerie Leahy on the far edge of the box who fired a bullet into the top left corner.
They had to come from behind a second time and equalised again through Julieanne Herrity. Herrity was unlucky to score to put the Irish Colleges ahead minutes later when she did well to round the Ashton keeper but couldn't direct her shot on target.
With minutes on the clock Ashton found the killer goal, which not only proved to be the winner, but also the goal that would put them though to the Cup Semi Final ahead of the Colleges on goal difference.
The Irish Colleges play Blackburn this afternoon in the Plate Semi Final.
