IT SLIGO began the WSCAI national futsal finals with a hard-earned victory over Inchicore College at IT Sligo.
Inchicore keeper Jade Corrigan was in inspired form for the Dublin outfit and produced a string of impressive saves.
Kim Flood eventually broke the deadlock in the fifth minute when he broke through and fired in a low shot past the exposed Corrigan.
Aileen Gilroy was arguably Sligo’s most influential player and she produced a brilliant second for the hosts with a powerful strike in the ninth minute to hand her side control.
Inchicore showed plenty of resolve and got back in the tie in the 11th minute when Emma Gregg converted from close range but Sligo held on for the three points.
